TURNING THE BELLWETHER HOUSE INTO A COLORFUL MASTERPIECE
There's something magical that happens when two creatives plan their wedding together, and this day was proof of that. Sarah and Brad are both creatives in the film industry and drew inspiration from Wes Anderson's catalogue for their color scheme and design. When we spoke during the planning process, I knew this was going to be a wedding I'd look back on for a long time.
With Ivory and Beau on the design team and the gorgeous Bellwether House as the backdrop, there was no way this vision wouldn't come to life. Every detail, down to the charcuterie cups guests received during cocktail hour, was thought out and executed beautifully and meaningfully. Even the music was intentional, as Brad's grandfather played his guitar for the ceremony entrance.
A bridal entrance down the iron steps was equal parts romantic and dramatic perfection!! I love watching the ordinary moments of a wedding day turned up a notch so they can be soaked in and enjoyed in an upscale way. The ceremony started and ended with smiles across everyone's faces, followed by plenty of time for Sarah and Brad to love on their friends and family.
I always encourage taking a moment to slow down and see everyone right after the ceremony ends, before moving into any portraits. These are the people closest to you, and they want the chance to tell you how special being a part of this day is for them. To rush through that for the sake of photos is not worth it, and it would be robbing you of the intimate moments that make real memories for you.
After many hugs and kisses, Sarah and Brad cut into their cake and popped the champagne! The colored flutes surrounded by the citrus tones of the flowers and decor were perfect choices, and I still gawk at these photos sometimes! Weddings are all about the details, and I think every individual choice came together so beautifully. Speaking of meaningful details, for cocktail hour snacks, every guest got their own mini charcuterie cup with a personalized photo inside it of them and the bride and/or groom--so sweet!!
Before dinner was served by the incredibly talented Chef Whitney McMorris, Sarah + Brad snuck off for some lovers' portraits around the area. Gaston Street is just dripping in natural beauty and old-fashioned elegance. When we hit the corner of Forsyth Park, Sarah and Brad led us to the bench where they first met, and sat for a while in the quiet to soak in the weight of what that seat led to. After some gorgeous golden hour photos, we made our way back to the venue for a sunset first dance and a delicious dinner as the stars began to twinkle overhead.
